Medicusa -> Air Superiority and Ground Support (3/30/2021 1:30:05 PM)

Hi,
I wonder, do I need air superiority missions when I place my fighters in areas where I want the enemy recon, interdiction and bombers killed? Dont they intercept on their own and air superiortiy missions are only interesting if I want to assigh fighters to further away areas?

On a similar note, do I need ground attack missions when I assign ground support and simply turn on/off the support button as needed?

Wouldnt that in both cases save a lot of fuel, freight and avoid losing planes due to accidients?

thanks
Chris

The best method for me is ground support with fighters only (you have to set them manually). It is borderline gamey though in my opinion because you absolutely slaughter russian planes

To answer your questions ground attack is not ground support. Ground attack is a specific ad with a specific target. Ground support supports your army or corps you have set during the ground phase. You can turn it on and of with x. You should only use it for important battles. As I said above in the beginning of 41 I only use fighters since I don't need bomber support

just to add to this, GA and GS interact with the actual battle in very different ways

GA - hit unit, cause a mix of disruptions/damage/destroyed. The latter 2 are out of action for the rest of the game turn, the first is converted to fatigu,

GS - hit unit, cause a mix of disruptions/damage/destroyed etc. None of those elements are now counted for who won the battle (with all that implies)

so there is a good reason why GS is seen as the single most effective air option, its the one that makes a material difference at the critical juncture.

Now this is not to argue don't do the others, just only do them when you have the spare assets
