hmota -> The Road to Leningrad vs Soviet AI, learning run (4/2/2021 4:38:12 PM)

After a long periond I am trying to get back to WITE, now in this 2nd release. Because I am lerning, and do not understand everything completely I will appreciate any comment and sugestion, from anybody :)

After some trials how to handle the Air doctrine mechanics and setup I realize to do not do any 1st day Recon or Ground support mission, and set all 10 doctrines to Ground attack, to maximize Soviet losses, I set each attack like the one on the picture, AF with fighter as High priority, AF with LB with norm priority...

End of T1.
Started attack and cleanning with infantry divisions with target to clean as much of Lithuania from Sov units, and capture as much of attacked AFs.

Assigned Totenkopf SS MD to LVI Mot corps. Sended the LVI Mot corps through Daugavpils , and XXXXI Mot corps through Riga.

With FBD4 I started to repair railline through Radvilskis to Jelgava, this is a single rail, but some hexes was not damaged, and it is shorter than double rail through Kaunas - Vilnius, I expect that it will allow me to get supply to frontline quicker.

I also build new supply depot in Jelgava.

Repsol -> RE: The Road to Leningrad vs Soviet AI, learning run (4/3/2021 9:34:56 AM)

Hello...
Looks like a good start [:)]. One thing though...Some of the russian units surrounded in Kurland might be able to escape unless you either capture the port of Ventspils or insolate it via naval interdiction.
Even if they do not manage to escape they will at the very least be resuplied via that port.

You have two options if you want to prevent this as far as i know. 1. ues a motorized unit to capture the port. 2. Block enemy shipping with naval interdiction.

hmota -> RE: The Road to Leningrad vs Soviet AI, learning run (4/7/2021 12:44:30 PM)

Hello Repsol,
Would the 2nd option prohibit me to launch one of my attacks on airfields? Of course I can try to increase arrea for one of my attacks instead.
What about motorizing one of my infantry divisions? is it worth it?

Nevertheless I continued in my game and set two recon doctrines, one Ground support doctrine and Naval interdiction besides Venstpils.

I tried to move forward infantry divisions as much as possible. Beside this I went with my panzer corps not so much forward, lets see if AI will pull back units from two salients which stays there. I send also the Tottenkopf div to Stanislavovoand from the I will try to send it directly north.

Set Most forward supply depots to priority 4, and repired railvere up to Jelgava.
AI moved JG 54 to Liepaja, I expect that I find them next turn more close to the front around Riga.

Ground loses, only 4 units destroyed this turn, maybe I should be more aggressive :)

Repsol -> RE: The Road to Leningrad vs Soviet AI, learning run (4/7/2021 5:07:30 PM)

hmota you have a dedicated naval ops AOG to use for interdiction of Ventspils...It's the

Flieger Fuehrer Ostsee

Asign that one to the naval patrol mission. I have not experimented extensively with it to get the perfect set-up for it but i have been using it to fly 3 days spread out through the week and set it to 4 missions in the intensity.
I have placed the target outside Ventspils and put it to size 1 to get a nice sized box outside the port. Remember to fly the airfield attacks first and the naval patrol later (via the priority settings...)
Also move the auto generated waypoints out over the sea to get away from the enemy anti aircraft hexes.

Doing it like this gives me enough interdiction to block the port from enemmy ships. [:D]

I took next try with the guidances from Repsol, captured Leningrad, win the scenario by 2,7:1, but....only thing which looks strange to me is that on T14 all fighters are withdrawn and on T16 one wing is send back...
