for example, those Thai LCU, only need their +AV squads to be auto replacement for garrison use, but do not want them to get ART/AFV/Support squads

Turn on "stockpile" for the devices that you do not want these units to receive when you have set them to receive replacements. Turn of the replacements when they don't need more and then turn off the "stockpile" so that other units that you what them to have those devices will then receive them. That is only a few more clicks . . . [:'(]

Just lose several turns time for IJ units to gain those squads.[:)]

The IJA can still accept squads but not the devices that you want to stockpile. But the Thais still need support squads to keep their combat squads in the best condition and any engineers there can work on defensive fortifications for the later defense of that base.

Stop trying to min/max the game and you will enjoy it a whole lot more.
