Brausepaul -> WITE 2 and Mac (4/6/2021 8:23:59 AM)

Has anyone tried so run this game via Wine or Crossover on a Mac? I found an old entry for WITE 1 in Wine's App database and wonder if this would work as well.

I do know about Bootcamp but that requires a full Windows 10 license and my current partition lacks enough space for a second operating system.

You do not need to buy a Windows license to run Windows on Bootcamp. You do not need a product key.

I have been running Windows on Bootcamp without a license and have no issues.

There are restrictions on what you can do with Windows, but I am only running games on Bootcamp, I don't use Office or any other apps. Why would I? That's why I own a Mac :)

Yes, it runs on Mac with Crossover 👍

I just added it to Crossover DB.

No videos and you have to manually install .NET 4.7.2 and directx for modern games and direct music

AI is slower than in my VMware VM, and it maybe more stable with music at zero level.

If you have any questions please ask

Regards

EDIT:

What I have done to have the game running on my Imac 27 from 2019:

- Installed WITE2 in a Windows 10 bottle (32 bits, not 64), using latest Crossover version (20.0.4)
- Did not install .NET or directx via Matrix installer
- Installed .NET 4.7.2 in the bottle
- Installed Directx for modern games in the bottle
- Installed DirectMusic in the bottle (it installs an old Directx) - otherwise no music

I also changed some Graphic settings in Wine Configuration:

- unselected both windows manager options (seems to be indifferent)
- selected auto-mouse capture in full screen windows (maybe indifferent)
- emulate a virtual screen (1920x1080) - in my MAC, necessary

I am not sure if all this is needed, but seems to work [:)]

Hi Franciscus,

thanks for replying. I take zour message as: install WITE 2, .NET and DirectX manually one after the other, do not install them via WITE 2, am I correct?

Yes, exactly

But you will also need to then install Direct Music in the bottle - otherwise, no sound.

Cheers

(PS: the game also runs very well in a Virtual Machine. VMWare now is free and IMHO much better than Parallels)
