I'm not sure if this would help anyone but here's a recent updated document that I've been using for some time. It helps me visualize and organize the chaotic theatre.

I had these larger images in the original document but it made it too large to insert for download.

Enjoy and many blessings to you and yours!

Hi Friends,

I mainly use memory and I feel like I'm missing one thing that escapes me but this is my basic thoughts for China. I do hope it's helpful to someone that hasn't been at it a number of years or has little interest in the theater.

China is obviously all about the conservation of supply, very few to no replacements in country early.

The CNAC transport unit is one of my first PP purchases, (China Air Task Force) It gets heavy work early in CBI, later it will be flying supply into China from Ledo.

HQs-Use their range to support troops in the fight, position them one hex behind or in the case of War Area HQ’s a few hex’s away. No use exposing them to artillery and possible retreat/major losses.

While on the defensive, short of Chungking do not build any airfields unless they are to be used to fly in supply, I’ll build Chengtu to 3 and maybe Tsuyung to a 3 if the base isn’t threatened.

All the units in the 4th War Area (Western China) that combine to 5th Chinese Corps start marching toward the Burma border on the first turn, buy out asap and march them through Burma to India, Rail them to a nice fat supply location add replacements to fill them out.

Don’t change any preparation on future objectives unless they start at at 0. You need to bring your troops up to the national experience level with or without action before changing the objectives which for Chinese Troops are 45.

The really small combat units divide them and spread them out in the countryside just off roads and railroads. Make the attacker hunt you down, if bypassed cut supply lines.
Later in 1942, I’ll buy some air units and fly them out to India for training and to ease supply burden.

When the time is right I’ll buy out one P-40E unit from Clark/ Manila to Tenth Air Force, fly it to Kukong and will use the unit in CBI Theater. As things get hot in Burma that extra P-40E unit is a nice asset.

Start building Ledo’s airfield ASAP to assist supply of China by air.

I’m certain others have tactics as well but this is what I’ve found works for me.

Excellent points thank you

Another strategy I used in China KPAX is to have the majority of Bomber units transport supply from hubs with high supply like Chungking to places that are in need and have an airfield.
I find it is a better use of the planes and pilots instead of facing the wrath of the Japanese fighters, who have much higher experience. It might just help you hold on a little longer and more effectively too.
You will see them at the end of the turn resolution segment- the computer will trace each one from origin to destination. Some Ops losses can and will occur, but in my experience, ground attacks with the Chinese bombers is highly ineffective.
Just my opinion.

Glad you enjoyed it, in addition add 6th Chinese Corps start marching toward the Burma border on the first turn, buy out asap and march them through Burma to India, Rail them to a nice fat supply location add replacements to fill them out.

Both the 5th and 6th Chinese Corps to play a roll in taking back Burma under one of the most underrated generals of the war Joseph Stilwell (<-at least in my opinion).

Early, I don't really do much with the Chinese air force Bombers except train, when the fighter pilots gain experience 55ish, the CAF fighters I'll use as bait at 6 thousand feet with P-40E's at 11k.

Speaking of the CAF bombers, as they train their defensive skills increase, I'll grab the highest defensive bomber pilots and train them up in fighters, if you're patient they give you a nice boost.

BBfanboy -> RE: Starting Chinese Troop HQ's (4/24/2021 4:51:07 AM)

There are a few temporarily restricted Chinese units (i.e. they can be bought out with PP) that are not near the Chunking plain but might be able to march out to Burma/India if the Japanese do not move too fast on the back roads.

The best way to find all of those temp restricted units is to open the "all land units" list using the red flag button at the top of the screen, then sort to show just the Chinese Infantry units a quick scan of the HQ column should show you which units are buyable. Start them marching on turn one and by the time they get to the Burma border you should have enough PP to do the deed.

RangerJoe -> RE: Starting Chinese Troop HQ's (4/24/2021 10:10:40 AM)

If nothing else, by not upgrading their artillery they should be able to be flown out.

In the first days of action I split up the CATF Transports and grabbed a fragment from Hong Kong from what I could before it fell. Attached are images from two of the units from late January of 42, the Kowloon Brigade makes a nice garrison for Diego Garcia, something I've always struggled to find early.

I hope someone finds this helpful.
