calcwerc -> american war readiness goes up due to japanese activity in the atlantic (4/6/2021 7:51:30 PM)

In my game i have Japanese naval units in the Indian Ocean spotting for the axis. Japan still neutral.
They are not in the Atlantic in any way, still suddenly at end of turn I get message that American war readiness goes up because of Japanese naval activity in the Atlantic.

Two things: 1) I have played many games, and I am not aware of this rule. I wish it was included as information in one of the many popups in the beginning of the game, as far as I am aware it is not. It is potentially gamebreaking in competitive PBEM matches when it is "learning by doing" in this way...
2) As I say, no naval units in the Atlantic. So possibly a bug as well?

Hi

I've checked the script and it will fire if there is a Japanese naval unit (or transport of any kind) within 5 hexes of Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands (35,128), or if there is one within 13 hexes of Capetown port (103,123), so that any Japanese naval movements south of the port of Durban would trigger it.

It therefore sounds as though it's the latter that has triggered the event.

The easiest option will probably be to move the trigger point to the west, although I do wonder what the US would have thought of the Japanese navy sailing off the coast of South Africa.

Thanks for answer, yes it is the second one then. I wasnt aware of this rule. I am perfectly okay with the ruling, I just feel it needs to be indicated on the map like the other sea zones, or it should be mentioned in a pop up at the game start!
