Unfortunately the whole world continues to be a mess! If it isn't Russia going to invade the Ukraine, it's China going to invade Taiwan, Iran going to make a bomb, North Korea threatening war. This on top of the fact that human induced climate change and the devastation of the natural world, which no one is really doing anything about except lots of talk and hand wringing. Enough to get you depressed, no wonder so many states are legalizing marijuana, well known for its anti-anxiety effects. HA!

I think the late U.S. cold war diplomat George Kennan summed it up nicely:

quote:

Our problem is in assessing the relative importance of the various dangers in which we move; we should not seek a total absence
of danger but balance peril against peril to find the tolerable degree of each.
-- George Kennan

I hear from USA that real estate property in coasts and small islands are in high demand and for high price. So something gets done regardless of claimed climate change and resulting rise of sea level [8|]

I'm not! Is someone poking either? Oh yea, I remember something about Indian and Chinese soldiers having a border dispute with their fists, and "dragon" retreated with its tail between legs. Anything more serious than that?

Politics and politicians are a boil on the butt of humanity. [:'(]

There's a bucket load of games about it. https://store.steampowered.com/tags/en/Politics/

To name a few. [;)]

There have been lots of games about things going from cold to hot. One of my favorites from back in the day was SPI Red Star, White Star.

I'm sure the Philippines have been 'poking' China.

What's that? They haven't? And China is still trying to take over the Spratlys?

There is a lot of pretense, one side“takes over” the other pretends to have a genuine claim, or even an exceptional one.
Let’s compare global footprints.

OK, sure. Your apologist tendencies are now more than clear.

Have fun talking to yourself, because I don't waste time engaging in bad faith actors.

You mean compare footprints of a semi-democratic country with two authoritarian countries one of which is currently committing a genocide and another is actively exporting fascism worldwide?
Both Russia and China are overtly toxic due to their history of authoritarianism and ruining socialism for the rest of the world by trying to implement it in backwards rural countries with disastrous consequences during the industrialisation phase and going the authoritarian route so they won't have as many client states as USA.

Oh great. The 'let's get this thread locked' gang has arrived. [sm=nono.gif]

Take it someplace else. A dark alley would work. Knives are best.

Really? I haven't heard of any Chinese or Russian Navy assets patrolling off the coast of the U.S. Russia is criticized for having wargames within it's own borders but it is fine for the U.S. to have troops in Poland. I don't care for any of it, from any side, as it heightens the possibility of conflict. But let's be fair and balanced about who is doing what and where.

gamer78 -> RE: Was Cold War really a Cold war or a myth? (4/15/2021 4:23:02 PM)

Hi,
If USA is semi-democratic and Russia and China authoritarian then whe have a problem with 'democratic' European Union and Turkey relationship. [:)] Most relationship recently about how many Syrian refugues EU states want to receive. Or better give money to head count to the country to keep that immigrants. IMHO democracy in the world in that level. So Let's move away from discussion who is more democratic or peacefull.

According to experts immigration will cause more problems in the future. People moving away from dry hot countries to north countries.

As has been said, this is veering toward current politics. Please desist.

Yes also historically during Ottoman times, Arabs didn't want to mix up with Anatolia and Anatolia was -and still today- very conservative to its Asian roots. Regions about Arabs and Turks were secluded and also have different 'Tımarlı Sipahi' cavaly system during the time Ottoman.

z1812 -> RE: Was Cold War really a Cold war or a myth? (4/15/2021 6:25:11 PM)

Historically we were all immigrants, or descended from them, one or the other. Although before there were borders, we were simply nomadic migrants.

Yeah at the heart of it all we're all Africans. [:D]
