maunaloa6174 -> V for Victory game series (4/15/2021 9:31:07 PM)

Hello,
I'm looking for brand new, sealed big box games from series V for Victory (three of them):
Gold - Juno - Sword,
Velikiye Luki,
D-Day Utah.

If anyone from You have them sealed and is willing to sell, I will pay very good price!
Regards,
Maciek

Have you looked on eBay yet? Why do you want them sealed?

[edit]
Here is one

I collect sealed games. On ebay there are only used ones.

Is it not abandonware since then?

demyansk -> RE: V for Victory game series (4/16/2021 7:37:16 PM)

It might be near impossible to get a sealed game, I hope you find one, let us know

I used to play the V4V games exclusively for months at a time!

Closest game out now in my opinion is Decisive Campaigns.

Wow, you found a sealed box game, nice, I have three of the games in my closet in perfect condition but no 3.5” drive. It’s okay though

Ridcully70 -> RE: V for Victory game series (4/18/2021 7:22:58 AM)

Have you tried Zoo Tycoon 2? That has sea lions. That's sort of sealed I guess.

cpdeyoung -> RE: V for Victory game series (4/18/2021 10:43:17 AM)

Ouch

Probably you already know this, but if you have the originals you can download an abandonware version and play them with DOSBox.

maunaloa6174 -> RE: V for Victory game series (4/18/2021 12:27:12 PM)

I use DOSBox very often. It's true that It will be difficult mission to get them brand new. First I will collect all parts in mint - near mint condition, then I will wait patiently for the new ones. I just managed to buy sealed commemorative collection of all parts of this game:

That.Would.Be.Great. But as far I'm concerned It's 100% utopia to make this dream come true...

Just buy the drive. External ones with USB plug are still made and available. I bought one couple years ago to install The Settlers (PC, English, floppy disk version). Here is one:

Those games were all WEGO too. They were fab. All they need is a graphics upgrade and conversion to run on the latest OS. I would buy the whole lot. Including Crusader and Stalingrad. Were there any others?

The Velikie Luki game was my first wargame. I'll fire them all up on occasion, really exceptional titles. They've aged better than many of the more recent wargames. Like others have said, spruce up the UI and graphics and you'd have a winner. They really fill a nice niche between DC:B and WitE2, and the platoon level games.

demyansk -> RE: V for Victory game series (4/19/2021 9:37:29 AM)

I think I might have a 3,5” drive, pm me if interested

Who was Atomic Games and where are they now? I think I'll have to look this up.

You will find information about Atomic Games at MobyGames.

Mission 2/4 completed. Finally V for Victory Utah Beach has arrived!

Freyr Oakenshield -> RE: V for Victory game series (5/13/2021 12:41:42 PM)

To my mind Matrix/Slitherine could re-release them; they like vintage stuff like that... PLUS PC MEMOIR '44 of course [:D] -- DoW is simply not coping with the PC version....

sol_invictus -> RE: V for Victory game series (5/13/2021 2:26:30 PM)

These games are great and I owned them all back in the day. Still have my boxed Operation Crusader and the Commemorative Collection. I am currently playing an email game of D-Day: America Invades. I downloaded all of them from Abandonia. These games have held up remarkably well and I still consider them the best operational level wargames that have ever been made. Not sure who owns the rights to them. Avalon Hill was bought by Hasbro many years ago but not sure if they also got the rights for the World at War series. Atomic started making the real-time tactical games after the V for Victory series so I assume they still own the rights to it. I do wish GOG or Matrix would release them all as a box set.

Agreed! The World at War series had a number of good usability changes over the V for Victory games. Still start them every now and then using DOSBox.

Mission accomplished! Look at my collection: "V for Victory" and "World at War"!
