Aetius2 -> AI Naval support allocation (4/19/2021 6:36:58 AM)

How does the AI decide wich BG gets naval support (all on naval supported maps)?

A while back i've seen a post about this subject in the matrix forums but after a lot of searching i can't find it anymore.

AI Naval support assignment is very simple -- it's designed for a campaign where there are only a few choices for where naval support is possible on any given turn. It's done by checking all the battle groups in the operation/campaign for those that can possibly receive naval support, with priority given to BGs with an 'attack' order.

A unit can receive naval support if:
- It's not moving and the current map allows naval support OR it is moving and the destination map allows naval support.
- It is in full supply OR the battle group has the 'organic heavy artillery' flag set in formations.txt.

Thanks for the clarification.

I tried to allocate naval support to all 64 maps.
But there seems to be a 59 map limit.

Wouldn't setting the 'organic heavy artillery' flag for all formations in formations.txt have the same effect as assigning naval support to all maps?

In Maps/Stratmap.txt you need to change the first entry for naval support maps to 64 (in the stock game it is 59) -- this is the count of how many naval support map indexes follow -- and then follow this with 0-64 to cover all the maps.

Even if the formation has 'organic heavy artillery' set to true they still can't use it on maps that aren't flagged for naval support. In my previous post I should have put a 'AND' between the two lines of conditions to make the logic clear.

" -- and then follow this with 0-64 to cover all the maps. "
Don't you mean 0-63?

That's exactly what i did (first entry 64 then the count 0->63)but i get an error message when opening the exe, see attachment.

When i start to remove maps one by one it only works again with 59 maps.

Yeah, you need to input the screen coordinates for the scenario editor screen too. You must increase the coordinate entries to 64 as well.

That did the trick, thanks mate [:)]
