in order to intercept supplies???

I find that it just means a lot of busy work shifting units to a non-naval mission at the beginning of the turn, only to set them back to naval just before end of turn.

Just asking [&:]

Hitting supply convoys is a long game approach to lowering the effectiveness of the enemy.

Blockading directly stops their supply but puts a fleet at greater risk.

OK, understood.

But my question is why do I need to change the mode back to naval when supply convoy is on the opfor turn? Why does it not work like naval CAP that takes place regardless of the mode the carrier planes are in?

So you have the option to hit a supply convoy and not forced to. There was an issue where air would fly to kill supply then be killed by enemy air. Players didn't like that. They wanted air units to fly ground support but not supply interdiction.

WP2 there will be more combo missions available for air units so it is one selection only.
