I want to use AI Assist. Especially while learning the rest of the mechanics of the game. But it is pretty hard to do when you get AD's like this:

I have to go in and massage every Recon AD the AI sets up. Why it would make missions and then set the staging base and select AOGs that are out of range is little confusing. Especially given that I have no problem fixing these by selecting a more appropriate staging base and air group. Worse yet, if the game had been set up with AI Assist option enabled in preferences I would be unable to fix them. I can't believe this working as designed unless I'm missing something here.

While I'm sure you vets eschew the AI Assist I'm wondering if any mere mortals have seen anything like this?

In this particular case every one of these AD's (there were 5) had Zamosc as the staging base. So I went to each AD and changed the staging base to be the same base as where the assigned air groups were actually based and everything was fine. Why however is the AI trying to stage every recon flight from Luftflotte 4 through Zamosc?

So here's another example from the same turn. The AI made an Air Superiority AD but again no aircraft will fly it, again for lack of range. In this case I just changed the Area (radius) from 6 to 5 and voila the 77 aircraft that the AI assigned to the mission will now be able to fly it. And (again) I don't see the point of the AI making AD's in which the no aircraft are going to fly the mission????

Best thing you can do when you see this kind of thing is to send us a save where if we push the AI assist button you get the bad ADs set up. Just tell us what air command and ADs to look at. You can attach the save here in a post or email to 2by3@2by3games.com . With a save, we can then try to figure out why it's setting up a bad AD and change it and test the change. Thanks. Here is the save. Just hit AI Assist and then hot key shift Y to see the ADs on the map. Luftflotte 1 has one problem recon mission. Luftflotte 2 has the bad AS mission. And Luftflotte 4 has 5 bad Recon missions. I've subscribed to this thread if you have any questions or if there is something more I can add OR if you can explain where I just don't know what I'm doing lol!
