Larry thank you for the suggestions. Based on your questions I run a few additional tests and here are the results/answers: 1) which version of the editor are you using? 4.1.40 (2) Is there anything in common for the units that this fails for? Are they all land combat units, or are they aircraft, or ship, you know....They are all ground units (but see number 4 below) (3) Is there something in common for the units for which it doesn't fail? For the majority of units this does not fail. (also see number 4 below) (4) are you building this scenario from scratch or just modding some other scenario? I am building the scenario from scratch BUT I have Saved and Opened a few units in the force editor from another scenario. My suspicion was that some (but not all) of the units from other scenarios are the ones that have the problem. To confirm I run a quick test with another scenario and I was able to reproduce the problem. That is, if I Save and Open one of the "problem units" in a new scenario the problem persists. So my solution is to rebuild these units from scratch instead of using them from another scenario. Thankfully there are only a few dozen. (5) what does the View->Properties menu choice give you? The View->Properties menu choice gives me what I expect: I need to deploy, place objectives etc. i.e. all the things I haven't done yet. Thank you for your suggestions. I am not sure I know why this happens but at least I have a fix.
