quote:
Fuel is infinite, thanks to various assets which can produce it. This is not a universal truth. Planets varry wildly in fuel availibility. Planets can be like earth. That means Organic plantlife is abundant, it dies, is burried and then converted to fossil fuels over millions of years. Even if you got limited existing deposits, it should be cheap to produce food to turn into biofuel. Other SE planets are moon class, where there has never been a Biosphere. The only sources of fuel are ruins. Converting Food into fuel is near impossible, as your production from Dome Farms is extremely limited. A large factor in the usefullness of both are forrests and mountains: Forrests slow down the vehicles and apply relevant combat penalties, while not allowing them good entrenchment either. So ironically alive planets are usually a bad place - because the foliage makes using vehicles a bad idea. Mountains meanwhile are impassible for vehicles, unless there is a road. "The hardest thing in the game, is a MG unit in mountain." The advent of airforces actually mitigated both things a bit - while foliage offers some defense boost vs low fliers, it does allow you to "burn fuel" for limitary While mountains offer no real protection again airforces.
