map goes black when I

bagpuss -> map goes black when I (8/28/2003 3:34:01 AM)
deselect a unit with keyboard shortcut ,only rarely but I need to load a saved game to play on as map is useless ...... could be "I" as a newbie have got this wrong ,any advice ????
