eschatzy -> [FIXED] Tomahawk Missiles "Smashed into the ground" (5/16/2021 7:52:00 PM)

I've seen this issue a number of years ago, when the Tomahawk missiles are smashing into the ground and I know that it was fixed. It looks like it is happening again to me, consistently.

I'm running the newest version of command: Command v1.03 - Build 1147.23
I'm in the Live scenario: "The Korean Missile Crisis".

There are 30 RGM-109c Tomahawk Blk III and 20 RGM-109E Tomahawk Blk IV missiles launched from the Reagan Strike Group. They begin to crash just before Cheongsong gun and continue to crash into the ground all the way across Korean, until they have all been destroyed.

I've attached a zip file with three files. The files are as follows:
* Image of the Raw Message Log showing the crashes.
* A save file before the missiles launch from the Reagan Strike Group
* A save file before the missiles reach Cheongsong gun and begin to smash into the ground.

Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks,
Eric

Not related to the issue, the newest version is the public beta ending in .24. Might still have the issue though.

It wasn't confirmed to be fixed, they made some tweaking hoping it would fix it, because the devs could not reproduce the issue on their systems, but it didn't stop it from happening at least sometimes when I retested after that.

Thanks for the heads up about the fix. Interesting commentary in the links.

One this that is different in my situation is that the scenario is just starting and enemy forces are not anywhere near the missiles and the missile are flying over friendly territory. So there is no chance of crashing due to enemy fire.

I've replayed this situation several times now and the same thing happens each time.

Hopefully, they can find a good fix.

That's also the case in 4947034 to my recollection (there is nothing left really of the enemy at that point in OP's scene).

Interesting...assuming you restarted CMO between attempts.

If that is the case (consistent between multiple restarts of CMO) there is an attachment in https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4947034 post#28 from me that has a simple testing scene with some rigging to drop X' on destruction, press play speed up to like 5x and just let it run. I'm curious if you also get ground smashes with that testrig one. Would be good news (the consistency aspect) if you actually always get it on that one between restarts.

Looks like you are right. After restarting CMO, I was not able to recreate the missile crashing and everything worked as expected.

There must be some state that CMO gets in where the crashes start happening. I do know that before the crashes did happened I click on one of the missiles to see how things were going with it. After a little while it started climbing into the 1000s of feet and then diving back down again and up and down until it eventually crashed into the ground.

I have not been able to recreate again after restarting CMO.

This _should_ no longer happening with Build 1147.25 .

Can confirm (at least as far as past test where it would happen) it seems fixed.
15x restarts - my testrig scene, result: 0 instances of issue. This used to produce at least 1 if not more instances of the issue in 12-15 tries.
10x restarts - 4947034 op's original scene, result: 0 instances of issue, this always produced at least 1 if not more instances.

I've never had 25 restarts of not finding it happen at least twice if not more, so yup I think this one may be finally licked! Appreciate the efforts that went into smashing this one.
