would be a total newbie, starting from scratch with zero knowledge of the production system. That's a 'tough row to hoe', especially since you've been away. Without any knowledge of how it works its easy to get into trouble PDQ. And if you do as little as possible you could easily get buried by a good Allied opponent. Personally I'd stick to the Allies for the time being. How should I proceed from here if I want to learn to play as Japan? As a first step I'm currently watching XTRG's PBEM streams on YT, in which he shows everything he does, including setting up his convoys on T-1. Japanese economy is far from being super complicated. Just don't overdo your expansions and all is fine. Lots of AARs around talking about the IJ economy, which is mostly air production and not much more as soon as you have expanded your arms and vehicle factories a bit. Just mind every factory repairs at 1,000 supply points a day so over the course of the war you will spend several million of supply points for factory repairs but you won't spend them all at once. If you have a slight deficite in the first couple of months all is fine and from there on you should have a slight daily increase of supplies.
