Just wondering what happened with the research tree. Seemed rather underwhelming compared to DWU. Most weapon research branches have 3 tiers as opposed to 8 or 9 in the prequel. Is that to be expected in the final version or will it be expanded upon?

Iirc, seems here research can start urevealed so the tree starts appearing as you research tech or thru some sort of event,
I remember somebody mentionging something of the like (and it is mentioned being configurable, so we can have that and even techs not appearing in all playthrus, ala original moo, not sure about that last bit, though)

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Erik stated the research tree becomes considerably more complex as you progress through it. The livestreams so far have only shown the beginning of the tree.

As others have said... we have not seen the full research tree yet and the developer already said that the new tree have allot more research options than the DW1. So I don't think you will be disappointed for that reason.

I see. I do remember it was mentioned that there are more techs in DW2 than 1 but don't recall hearing that the tech tree starts as "unexplored" (i think that would be a first for me), hence my confusion. If that's how things stand then it makes sense. Still, would be nice for a dev to confirm or clarify if that is indeed the case. Regardless, i've regained my optimism.

Yes, that was far from the entire tree, it was just what I had revealed up that fairly early point in my demo game. Compared to DW1, the research tree is larger with more options.
