I don’t know how many forum members are interested in the Vietnam War.

But…….With Memorial Day this weekend I thought some of you might like to see
some of interviews and war stories with special force veterans. They were members
or the support Helo veterans for MACV-SOG.
(Military Assistance Command Vietnam – Studies and Observation Group)

They ran special missions behind enemy lines.

“Prairie Fire” was the emergency code for a unit in serious trouble.

I always like to hear veterans talk about their service.
Jim Shorten “Wild Carrot” is a character.

Don’t miss conversation #2.

The interviews were done by Savage Game Designs for an Arma3
DLC mod named “Prairie Fire”.

The game:
About 1:45 into conversation #2 the vets talk about how they felt when they were watching or in the game.

I’ve been playing Arma 3 for several years, just in single player, and I own the
Prairie Fire game. I think it is the best tactical war game of the Vietnam war
That I’ve ever seen. The detail, terrain, weapons, sound and graphics are just fantastic.

Here is a launch video with some game footage:

I like the scene where the LT colonel calls "Broken Arrow" and it was the radio operator who called it in.

Broken Arrow is the code for a nuclear weapon accident. They used that in Vietnam?

Yes but there the code word meant that a unit was in danger of being over run and wiped out. Thus every aircraft in the air went to to drop its ordinance. I am sure that ready aircraft also took off and went there as well.

I also believe that the FAC called it in and not colonel Moore. I guess that the Air Force officer became just a little concerned with the situation.[X(]
