So what is the consensus for the recently released "Warplan Pacific"?

Yeah. I think for WitP/AE aficionados the bar on future Pacific War titles has been set pretty high. It'd be difficult to go to a game on the subject were so much is abstracted, left out or seems at odds with what this game has taught about the nature of the conflict.

..Thank you for your input, but this only annunciates why we need WitP:AE2. 11 years and it is getting long in the tooth.

From what I have read of the some of the AARs it seems like a lot of the opening strategies for Japan involve sending task forces out to impose "blockades" on Allied bases like Manila or Port Moresby or Tonga which will cause them to fall.

Maybe I'm too literal, but blockades always make me think of Civil War games.
