Some "feet wet" gun camera footage. Sorry about the music.

Can anyone identify any of the target vessels?

Whispering death

The one at 1:26 in the movie is a German "Type 35" minesweeper - much used as escorts in the Channel.

Well done - I suspect, from the aircraft roundels, this is all ETO/MTO footage.

Mish-mash of ETO & PTO footage, some look like Damien Parer's Bismark Sea film.
Some are clearly RAF Beaus.

I did see a shot of bare armed aviator - probably a little under-dressed for the North Sea climate.

That depends on the time of the year. Today it is 22 C. in Kirkenes, finnmark...[;)]

At 1:42 a rather big xAP. Seems she can soak lots of MG/cannon hits. Must have been frustrating to shoot at her with no effect.

As one of Irish descent, the music is fine. Done live after a half dozen pints. Not as up on Europe WW2 as the Pacific but a couple of the ships looked like T boats to me. And where the heck was the air cover?

Gee your lucky - we had the coldest day on record here in 37 years. It barely got over 10C.

My neighbour across the street wrote a book about her brother's escape from Italy after he got shot down in the Med while attacking an Italian Convoy. I am not clear whether he was flying a Beaufighter with torpedo or a Beaufort with bombs. Either way, he led the attack but his flock of aircraft did not follow, I presume because there were escort ships with lots of AA in the convoy. Point is - it wasn't always one-way damage while attacking shipping.

Interesting that most of those strafing aircraft concentrated on the bridge of the vessel. Maybe the hull metal was too thick for the cannon shells to damage? Also amazing to see the entire area around a ship turn into white foam from the stream of shells and bullets - that has to be daunting to anyone thinking to fire back! [X(]
