Jorge_Stanbury -> only the dead have seen the end of war (6/11/2021 10:38:10 PM)

I am in a war against a mean, evil theocracy. I am doing OK in that war, I was able to gain some nice real estate, and I destroyed ~20 to ~30 enemy battalions

the enemy's capital is too far away, I don't want to keep pushing and extending my logistics; I would like to end the war; the problem is, difficulty is in ~360s while my rolls are in the 100+60ish

other than total conquest, is there a way to end the war?

Important to mention: I started the game with history class: aggressive past, or something like that, would that hard code wars to the bitter end?

if not... then I guess time to build a "maginot"

Is your relation with the M.E.T. as high as it can get? (via plea of friendship, ouverture, etc.) What faction is the ruling one? For peace with a theocracy the preference is Humanists > Doctrinists > Crusaders. If it's a wrong faction, you can gradually push it towards humanists by spying.

Plea of friendship won't work at war.

Heh, in my game I completely forgot that peace could be an option, thank you !

(Now just let me grab just a *little* bit more land beforehand...)

Lol. True, it's not something I did often, I think I only ever needed to end war in peace a couple times when dragged into a war in inconvenient location by a major ignoring the client state relation.

even overture card has an impossible difficulty

is sending gifts to improve relations the only way?

also, would battle losses, attrition, impact the AI decision for peace?

finally, is there a report on how war is going? some statistic of number of battles, casualty rates, body count, etc?

From what I have seen AI doesn't try to surrender if things go really bad for it.[:(]

You can find your overall kills & losses under Stats in the top right bar. It does not split them by regime, though.

It sounds like a mix of a not very capable council leader and an enemy AI that does not want peace. Depending on the profiles of an AI they will be more or less willing to sue for peace. For an evil autocratic theocracy that willingness to surrender is very very low

Well, the war hasn't been going well for my 2 enemies (also at war with each other).
See picture below, in green are my kills, in purple (squished) my losses.

I'm 15% Victory score.
The 13% Victory score Expansionist major who I've declared war on in the first turn is 25% Relations, Desired 30%, Difficulty 46 for Propose Peace.
The 46% Victory score "Isolationist" major who I've recently blitzkrieged is 27%, Desired 30%, Difficulty 52.

*Finally* I'll get to use my 111 Diplomacy Cap V foreign affairs Director who hasn't played a single card since I recruited him turn 56 !
