Why do you worry about Windows 11 for an existing PC?
Windows 10 will run fine until 2025. By then the world is a different place.

My i7-4790k isn't supported. I've already installed another ssd with Linux Mint (Cinnamon) and installed some games with Steam/Proton and Wine. Will start installing Matrix games this coming weekend to see what works.

Greetings springel, Microsoft determines what that different place will be. I do not worry about it on my current dinosaur windows laptop but it will affect what I do in the near future. At 69 years of age, 2025 assumes I am still here to see how things shake out..

Directx 12 'works better in games' isn't really convinced among gamers. I've intel i5 9400 f (9th generation) adaptive vsync works better in most games using directx 11. Less screen tearing. Not reality just my observation maybe.
My very old pc worked better about War in The East, than my laptop makes it slower and my new PC show similarly slow performance as my previous laptop-mouse scrolling was very slow-. Hard to understand Matrix games sometimes. [:)]

It better be since in today's world it's estimated only about 38% of machines are upgradeable to 11. [:D]
