How the hell do I assign fighter to escort air transports? I have AI support off, do everything manually but the fighter escort is still handled by AI. Some times there is a tiny escort but mostly not. Do I have to do Air Superiority Directives to increase the possibility of escorts or what?

F9, select the target, list of planes includes those that could be escorts, remove or add to according to choice?

Is that how you force the Army Group Center transport craft to supply only the center? A lot of times the AI wants to stage the transports from the center to the south if I try to use air supply south of Lvov.

it usually does a decent automatic selection of the staging base to the set target, agree it will sometimes pick long hauls so then I'll fiddle around with the staging base or manually select the air groups I want to use

edit - in the example above I literally did what the post says, F9, select target, its not a mission I would actually run

Well...I had all the fighter based further ahead. I realized now. So that is why. If the staging base is further back they will not join along the route. Miscalculation.
