Is there a way to mod the forests and wood textures to show groundconditions instead of seasons ??

No but you could overlay every hex with a suitable custom tile. Only problem would be those hexes with custom art already set. Capital cities and estuarys spring to mind.

I am working on a mod so that it is easier to distinguish clear, light mud and mud conditions. The mod works in clear, swamp and wood hexes, though currently it is still work in progress. See the link https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5034215&mpage=1&key=� and the sample pics below (from top to bottom: mostly mud, mostly light mud and clear).

For heavy wood hexes, I note that for those hexArts that do not cover the whole hex, the underlying land condition could still be seen. My initial thinking is that trimming the various hexArts for heavy woods may be a viable way forward. If you wish, you may try to make a mod for heavy wood hexes along the thinking.
