I think it would be interesting to add it as a planet class. Since the habitable area in such a world would be only near the terminator, the map area would be more narrow than usual (but can still be as long as usual), with the temperature going from very cold on one side of the strip to very hot on the other.

Although it may require minor adjustments to the modifiers from temperature, to at least explain why the entire planet is not habitable - at the moment the game has no harmful effects from heat, and envirosuits allow to survive even near absolute zero).

I'm in favor of most anything that'd make vastly different worlds feel more different. Adding complexity to enviromental protections would be very welcome - it'd be nice if there was a cause to make different equipment necessary for different climates. Having envirosuits and any vehicle fix all the problems makes climate variance mostly cosmetic.
