Uxbridge -> A very, very bad idea indeed ... (7/12/2021 6:47:22 AM)

Last evening I was assaulted by a wave of unwanted creativity. For some reason, probably an inheritance from Strategic Command, I have been under the impression that a scenario can't be without at least two nations already at war. That was wrong, and I had to fight a wild number of mental suggestions. In the end, of course, I could resist no longer ...

My idea is to change the normal set-up for the scenario to give Germany several options. First I assume that the Czechs, at least for some months after the Munich conference, decided to stick to their sovereignty, sharply demanding Chamberlain and Daladier to honour their pledge to defend Czochoslovakia in case of war. A random script will decide the outcome of this. Either the Czecs brace for war, where the Axis player must then decide where to attack (all is still at peace), or the Czechs give up, becoming part of Germany. In the latter case, there's still no war and no defence pledge from the Western powers to Poland, so Hitler can either attack Poland as historically, or go against the West first. If he opt for the West, there's no guarantee for Poland to assist UK and France.

I will ponder on this for a while. The strongest reason for this kind of start, is to give the players more options in the beginning of the game, without being harnest to the normal Poland-France-USSR strategy.

Nice, this is the Europe 1938 campaign then?

Mostly–if I do it. Except for the early starting date. But only PBEM-play.

EDIT: I have to let it start in early 1939, or the reinforcement schedule seems to mess up completely. Same goes for advancements. I have changed the core production in the normal '39 game, so there's only a token fluid production and manpower allotment; whereas batches of mobilization levies and production outputs comes at certain dates. We haven't yet tried that system, but I decided to build this scenario on this latter, tweaked one.
