What´s your strategy on mergeing units.As the Germans(sorry Axixs) in winter 41/42 i merged a lot of units. In spring i started refit depleted units.Is it possible and better to set units on refit all the time instead. Can you do this in winter???

Then I can create new divisions. When combined, German divisions are irrevocably destroyed and you cannot create them again. Therefore, I never merge German divisions!

Axis refit does not work well in the winter of 41 unless the unit is sitting on a well stocked supply depot - preferably far in the rear. Better yet in the Axis Reserves. The Axis just don't have the rail capacity to move the stuff they need in 41.

As Malyhin said - never Merge with the Axis, unless it's late, late game and you're on the ropes. Even to have a depleted unit mauled in the rearline - can somehow dig some or keep a fort up in case of necessity. Axis is not the Soviets that can spam freely new formations and dot the map with them just because.
