Anyone else read Air Battle Central Europe? It's (obviously) dated, but it's one of the best studies of Fuldapocalyptic aviation.

Gunner98 -> RE: Air Battle Central Europe (7/30/2021 4:26:18 PM)

Not yet, but now on my list.

Thanks

Its on my list now as well.

I have to ask, why are F-14s operating in CentFront?

One would hope it is a typo or an overexuberant promo guy writing the blurb

I've read it, it's in my Command Library list on Steam.

I think it's a good period text, with commentary from US, UK and West German personnel, though it isn't 100% accurate, as with retrospect, we now know that the F-117 was available for operations in Central Europe at the time of publication.

Perhaps a situation similar to what the Nimitz CAW had in Red Storm Rising. The Carrier was seriously damaged, and while the ship was being repaired, the mostly intact Air Wing redeployed to bases in the UK to join the battle over Germany.

It's a misprint. There are no Tomcats in the actual book.

I just want to point out that I've been a Kindle Unlimited customer for a few years and its a worthy investment of a few $ a month. I have found more than a few gems for both enjoyment reading and research...like this one. You do have to plough through a number of "not so good" books. But its not hard to sort them out with the review system.

I have posted about this book a few times on this forum.
The best scenario (for CMO)is the west German Naval Air Service tornadoes based in the North to try to stop a Soviet Amphibious attach on Denmark.

I have toyed with this but im pretty ignorant on the make up of Soviet naval forces available in the Baltic at that time, or the air assets they might put into protecting such an operation.

Another interesting chapter was that of the Lynx helicopter assault upon a Soviet armoured column. I tried to game this in Armoured Brigade but the game system doesnt lend itself to helicopter operations in this way.

Jason

You may want to take a look at the Baltic Fury scenarios, the Marineflieger are included, #1 & 3 are from the NATO side with #2 experiencing the Tornados from the Soviet point of view.

I'm playing right now the BF 01 scenario. I tried to play it with CMANO but te laptop suffered a lot. With CMO is going much better.
Great!!
