the airlift from Ledo to Kunming stops providing mpp from USA -> china if either city falls to the axis

but if it is subsequently retaken, should the airlift restart?

because it hasn't in one of my games

is this by design or a flaw?

BillRunacre -> RE: The Hump (9/12/2021 8:53:53 PM)

The engine checks every turn, so providing the triggers are met, flights should restart over the Hump.

However, if the Allies control Hanoi (184,69) and Kunming (180,65) then supplies will reach China via the Hanoi-Kunming railway instead.

Could that be the case here?

EarlyDoors -> RE: The Hump (9/13/2021 2:07:22 AM)

Hanoi and its port Haiphong were still japanese (Axis occupied)

Wanting was Japanese

I can't share the gameID because India (and Ledo) has now fallen to the Japanese

======================

Update: USA has taken Hanoi/Haiphong and liberated Indochina and the Hanoi-Kunming railway has started running again

Looks like its just the Hump that doesn't restart

@EarlyDoors - Had India already surrendered when the Allies controlled Ledo and Kunming?

EarlyDoors -> RE: The Hump (9/13/2021 7:09:57 AM)

After China retook Kunming, India continued to hold Ledo for about a year before surrendering.

At no point did the mpp airlift restart

Ok, to help me track this down, please can you let me know who controlled the following locations during the period in question?

I've filled in a few based on your answers above:

Haiphong Port 185,69 - Axis

Kunming 180,65 - Allies

Ledo 175,62 - Allies

Rangoon 174,74

Mandalay 174,70

Lashio 177,67

There are 14 different scripts controlling the flights over the Hump, and I've had a quick look at them and nothing jumps out at me, but hopefully with this information I'll be able to pin it down to a particular script and fix it.

Thanks

Hi Bill

Rangoon / Manadalay / Lashio were all in Japanese hands

Myitkynia was Allies (indian)

BillRunacre -> RE: The Hump (9/13/2021 2:41:45 PM)

Thanks, looking into it now.

EarlyDoors -> RE: The Hump (10/2/2021 1:03:14 PM)

In my next game, i notice in the DE blurb that the Hump states that Calcutta should also be held. It was defintely lost in previous game so I presume that is why the Hump didn't restart.

So next issue

China has been successfully defending the Hump and has retaken Hanoi allowing the Railway to restart. On this first turn, China receives both outcomes

I'll let you know if this continues

redrum68 -> RE: The Hump (10/2/2021 3:25:52 PM)

I believe that the Allies only need to hold Calcutta for the initial decision event to fire for the USA to say yes to funding the Hump. The reoccurring check doesn't check Calcutta only that India is allied and not surrendered.

EarlyDoors -> RE: The Hump (10/2/2021 5:20:30 PM)

back to normal next turn

double income problem is only on the turn that Hanoi is retaken

LoneRunner -> RE: The Hump (10/3/2021 5:36:10 PM)

In a current MP game, Japan has surrendered, China controls all of China. All of SE Asia is under Allied control. But the USA aid to China has not restarted.

BillRunacre -> RE: The Hump (10/4/2021 9:11:07 AM)

This is because the aid is contingent on Japan being Axis and fully mobilized, so with the ending of the war in the Pacific, the US will be devoting its military machine to finishing off Germany (and potentially Italy too).

If it weren't to automatically cease it might be considered wasted MPPs, e.g. why support China when the war is in Europe?

LoneRunner -> RE: The Hump (10/4/2021 3:04:03 PM)

Thanks Bill. Appreciate your answer.

In my MP game massive Chinese armies are streaming across Russia and attacking German positions around Perm and Stalingrad. Amazing how strong China can get when they own the entire country and have developed level 5 production technology.

BillRunacre -> RE: The Hump (10/5/2021 9:18:47 AM)

That is pretty impressive!
