RAG Air Operational Group.
RAG - Rezervnaya Aviatsionnaya Gruppa (Резервная авиагруппа). Reserve Air Group.
During August-October 1941 was formed 6 such Air groups (air task groups). They was used as a tool of Stavka on most important directions.
1st RAG was formed on basis of 9th SAD by NKO order #0075 21 Aug 1941, 17 Oct 1941 was used to forming Kalinin Front VVS.
2nd RAG was formed on basis of 56th IAD by NKO order #0075 21 Aug 1941, 8 Aug 1942 was used to forming 278th IAD.
3rd RAG was formed on basis of 59th IAD by NKO order #0079 1 Sep 1941, 24 March 1942 was disbanded.
4th RAG was formed on basis of 49th SAD by NKO order #0086 11 Sep 1941, 11 June 1942 was used to forming 270th BAD.
5th RAG was formed on basis of 65th IAD (11-23 Sep 1941), 15-22 May 1942 was used to forming 218th NBAD.
6th RAG was formed on basis of 15th SAD by NKO order #0092 2 Oct 1941, 12 Nov 1941 was used to forming 146th SAD.
