I have noted that a few players discussed taking Denmark by railing the Corps in Berlin to the Danish border in the first turn then splitting it and taking Denmark the next turn. I cannot see how you do this? When you split a Div of it ends up behind you and still one hex away from grabbing Copenhagen after the parent corps kills the defender. OK, what is the obvious solution I am missing (new to game just learning).

Cheers,

You need to have another unit to block the path behind you so when you split the corps, the division appear in front of you.

Thanks, I will try this.

I tried this but it doesn't split into Copenhagen, so I am clearly missing something obvious. What am I doing wrong?

Did you put another unit behind the corps?

You have to split prior to Copenhagen, on the rail line.

Test it...If you move a corp right to the border.
I then move two units behind it in Germany.
Then a unit to the left will move one, into Denmark claiming the two hexes in Denmark.
When the corp splits it will put a division on the rail line in front.
You might have to move another unit up to take the place of the one that moves.
