ORIGINAL: JorMallester I have just deployed some troops to Amami Oshima (Port 3) via an Amphibious task force. I am now looking to transport out some Resources that are sitting within the base using the same task force. 1) Should I switch the mission over to Cargo or keep it as Amphibious as I load? Feel free to correct me on this, but what I have generally been doing when it comes to Amphibious task forces is using them to transport troops between bases where at least one of said bases only has a port no higher than level 3. I believe I had read something about ports being level 3 as a cut off point; good chance I might be imagining things. As I was writing this I thought of just one more question... 2) When I am invading enemy bases with task forces, I should not use ''Transport'' missions right? Again, please correct me if needed. I have not reached a point where LST's and the like become a factor, so I do not fully understand their use quite just yet, but I will attempt to figure those out in due time. This noob appreciates any feedback. Thank you for your time! 1. As a rough rule of thumb, the use of an Amphibious TF for friendly ports sized 0-3 inclusive, will result in speedier unloading, than a Transport or Cargo TF. There are however certain modifiers which if in place, will negate the Amphibious TF advantage, Much depends on the availability of Naval Support and what exactly is being moved to these small friendly ports. 2. The advantage held by an Amphibious TF is very much focused on getting LCUs ashore, not on getting anything on board. Furthermore, the amphibious unload rates listed in the manual do not apply to unloading Fuel, Oil or Resources. 3. In your specific situation, it is unlikely that the type of TF is of much relevance for the return trip. In general terms, an Amphibious TF is inferior to a Transport or Cargo TF for loading raw materials. This is because it is the type of ship within the task force which matters (see following point). 4. An Amphibious TF dropping off troops at a friendly port will include xAP/AP/APA type ships. These ships are heavily weighted towards having dedicated "Troop" cargo holds over dedicated "Cargo" cargo (sic) holds. None of these ship types can carry Resources/Fuel/Oil in their dedicated "Troop" cargo hold, nor can they carry Oil in their dedicated "Cargo" cargo (sic) hold. Alfred
