metaphore -> Blue Disc (9/26/2021 2:02:50 AM)

In a way that seems totally random when I'm clicking somewhere or launch an action, the game constantly hold on for, sometime, minutes... until I got back the hand in order to keep continue playing. It's kinda frustrating me actually.

It's happening also after a click on the start menu when I'm reloading a save.

(edit: adding a Dxdiag file)

Have you tried reinstalling?

It's happening on every version of the game since release; I've installed all of them up to the last beta. Then I guess my answer to your question is yes?
It looks like something specific conflicting with my hardware (MSI Gaming laptop).

Maybe its constantly switching between iGPU and the separate GPU.

You gave me an idea, or at least something to try.
The game is not installed in my C: drive (system only); it's been installed and runing from a secondary fast SSD drive.
Now, I'm going to try a complete uninstall and to reinstall it on my system drive.

Joel Billings -> RE: Blue Disc (9/27/2021 2:28:00 PM)

Good idea, let us know how that works for you.

metaphore -> RE: Blue Disc (9/27/2021 9:41:51 PM)

It's the same :(
I've downloaded the binaries, made a fresh install, patched it with last update, launched a campaign, set up an AD, executed AD.... I got a blue disc for 40s as it was hanging at 6% of the Air Phase. AD execution is triggering it almost everytime I'm doing it.

Joel Billings -> RE: Blue Disc (9/27/2021 10:29:27 PM)

Does it eventually get past the 6% or does it permanently hang up there?

It does get pass, all the time... after hanging there for a variable ammount of time, could be less than a minute, sometime more than a couple of minutes. I usually find something else to do rather than watching it.

I've killed a bunch of service runing but, beside windows stuff that I can't shut down, there isn't much running and nothing I've done get this game run better.

Otherwise, this is a screenshot I took while testing it right now. Still happening at 6%, my windows is telling about the software "Ne réponds pas", there is a frigging blue disc in the middle (not captured), and me making some coffee in the background. Got the results of this one after a little while when it decided by itself to stop hanging there.

When doing heavy calculations, such as air phase, the game tends to freeze. Or rather it becomes unresponsive until it's done doing whatever it is doing. What sort of computer setup you have? I have a relatively new computer, and if I click for example "air directive" during the execution it will freeze for varying amounts of time.

Sure, Air Phase execution is some heavy load, but it is happening randomly and that could be when I'm clicking at the starting menu, asking for a reload or whatever.

It's a 5 years old laptop, but still it should be fine runing this game. It's been build around two SLI Nvidia GPUs, and I don't know if it might not be handled very well.

Joel stand by.
I'm checking if I get another blue disc by other means and I haven't so far. It's then possible that the clean install fixed it.

Otherwise, sorry, this particular AD that I was testing was litterally overflooding the system... and simply changing those settings get me thru the 6% without hanging :)

Joel Billings -> RE: Blue Disc (10/4/2021 7:26:22 PM)

I hope you were able to get this worked out.
