Would experience go up when making an attack whether successful or not?

I believe there is a chance with every attack that a units efficiency will increase. I don't believe whether it succeeds or not has any affect on this "die roll". A lot of the game is "under the hood".

Thank you. Would you happen to know how much experience a unit goes up after an attack?

According to the manual effectiveness goes down 3% after each attack.

It does not say anything about experience except it does increase.

Effectiveness goes down 6% per attack.

Experience will randomly go up 1% or 2%....

Air I believe only ever appears to go up 1%...But maybe it can go 2 and I have just never seen it.

Naval I am not sure...I think 1% also.

I noticed that experience will go up on one unit and then will stay the same on another unit.

It is a random roll if they get any experience and then if it is 1 or 2 points...2 is pretty rare..
