June 4th, 1942 (End of Axis turn) In Egypt, the enemy attacked the VII Corps with air and naval support. Our position held but at a cost, especially in the air. A counterattack was ordered with the help of the Piave Motorised Corps and the IV Panzer Corps. The Canadian III Corps barely escaped destruction and fled. Their position is now occupied by the Italian II corps serving as a front guard. OKW is sending some extra help just in case. In Gibraltar the Ark Royal was hit by Italian torpedo bombers just before reaching port. Follow-up attacks cost the lives of many Italian pilots but destroyed the Quincy Group and caused some small damage to the Washington. In Western Europe, Allied bombers roamed over the French and Dutch skies but did not venture inside Germany. In the Soviet Union, the Heer kept going forward and took Riga, crossing the Daugava in force! The Soviet 6th Mech Corps trapped since last week resisted attacks for over four days ensuring that the other isolated Soviet Corps, near Courtland, could not be dealt with afterward. The capture of Tallinn is the next priority in the region. This should free two or three coastal divisions in the Baltic ports for deployment elsewhere, France namely. In the South, the Dniester was crossed, and Odessa was encircled. OKH is also clearly attempting to create a small pocket directly North of Bessarabia, on the East side of the Dniester. Soviet troops could still escape, but OKH hopes that instead they will attempt a counterattack on some moderately exposed German units in the former Eastern Poland. Such an attempt, even more so if it fails, could put quite a lot of their combat units at risk. Soviet submarines also caused some small havoc in the Baltic raiding sinking some merchants and escorts. Sadly, in the chaos of battle, the maps were lost!
