Grotius -> Advice for a returning player? (10/11/2021 11:17:19 PM)

I played the heck out of this game when it first released, as the Allies against the AI, and I'd like to play again! I'll re-read the manual, of course. Do you have any advice for a returning player? Any must-have mods? Any things an Allied player must know?

I had my hands full against the AI, as I recall. I recall a desperate struggle to hang on in China and Russia, and surprise that the USA wasn't turning the tables as fast as I hoped.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I am far from a maven, but your game play would probably improve playing the Axis for a change. Playing the attacker forces you to improve skills that will be useful when you go back to playing Allies.

My advice would be to read as many of the recent AARs as you can.

And also to read the guides by Marcinos1985 & Braedenh here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/957720/guides/

Lots of good stuff in there for you.

Thanks for your replies! DrZom, that's good advice. It's funny, I usually do play the Axis in WW2 games. For some reason, in this one, I've always wanted to play the Allies. And getting pushed around by the AI made me want to play the Allies more. But yes, I'll give the Axis a try.

Pete, thanks for that advice. I've started reading some of the AARs and will read more. Those Steam strategy guides are great! I already knew the importance of HQs and supply, but I never made full use of the charts. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever tried to figure out what the AI was building -- or wooing via diplomacy. That's really great advice.

OK, back to reading some AARs! Thanks again.

playing allys, its a question of good weather, if green map then you can beat axis at 1944 berlin can falls, just invest in russia infantry level 1 and also never buy russian corps, one russia division its almost 4 corps. russian tanks at level 1 are very strong with the technology of tanks

remenber dont invest to much on tanks. (i mean if you invest to get higher upgrades quickly for allys also the axis will and they will first) always axis are in front of this technology

the best way to destroy panzers is; destroy the HQ first, or try always to separate from the range panzers also isolated panzers or not well conected with HQs are hard to destroy unless you give them 3 or 4 strikes

if the axis dont do bltzkrieg an make a line; then forget panzers and destroy infantrys divisions

hope it helps..but weather is the key for allys, remenber that japan always has good weather on december and january 1941-1942

i was talking about pps (money) but also the values attack and defense

corps are expensive: 90 multiply by 4 are 360 pps

one division is 250 pps new

corps are use to defend last positions against Tanks, infantry division do the same but with a triple higher value of attack
