is it possible to make a minor nation, such as the Communist Chinese into a major nation? Thanks

Not that I have ever seen in the editor. I believe that is hard coded.

The 1st 8 nations are the only major powers in the game. So you would have to replace say Italy with them. Then come up with custom counter swap for Italy and Red China so it is in the right place. THEN change any scripting and country stats.
