ZinZan -> Spec OpFire Freq in Player Preferences (7/16/2001 7:45:00 AM)

How does 'Spec OpFire Freq' in Player Preferences actually work. I have assumed that this is the chance for units to OpFire when presented with an opportunity. BUT I just noticed the chance runs to 250%?? Does this mean that this is the chance that a unit will TEST for OpFire when given a chance to? If so what is the test against. My gut instinct says it should be experience or morale but??? On the same subject where could I find the answers to questions like this myself, rather than hassling the board. :) I have the ver 5.0 manual but after a look (albeit a quick one) through I can't find the answer.

Supression and proximity to the target are also factors; possibly also the target's speed. I think the complete answer to a question like this can only be found here.

THere are three types of Opfire, each type has a "multiplier" that scales the random variable that is used to "dice for" a special opfire shot. THe "multiplier" is multiplied by the % dilaed in, so for 250% it will happen 2.5 times as often, if at 30% it will happen .3 times as often. Rnage and suppression/10 are other multipliers, and the main drivers of special opfire chances, though exxperience play a role too. [ July 16, 2001: Message edited by: Paul Vebber ]
