Drats, didn't get in the beta. Putting some major hours into DW:U to stop me clucking here.

I was doing just that but I couldn't stop thinking about DW2. Recently I am helping test an early access game called Ostranauts to scratch my testing itch and take my mind off DW for a bit until I recover from not making it into beta testers:)

I hope to see Dune soon, also has anyone seen much of the series Foundation yet? I hear it will be epic sci-fi :)

@Scotias.
4. It's good, holds true to the books in a lot of ways, charts its own path in others.

Hang in there.

Seen Dune - it was great.
Not ever going to watch Foundation though, even if it is brilliant it would probably ruin my experience of the books. I have watched a few adaptions of books and even the really good ones I usually end up wishing I hadn't watched. Even Ender's game which I thought was a great film.

However, Dune I never read the books, or The Expanse, and I loved those.

Days just fly past while trying to learn Aurora 4X and War in the East 2.

I love Aurora 4X, but it only works for me if I binge on it for long sessions, otherwise I lose track of what I am doing.

Never tried War in the East 2. I'll have to look into it.

deMangler -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (12/20/2021 5:02:16 PM)

93 days to go :)

I have decided to read The Expanse books to pass the time, I am playing/testing Ostranauts and it seems to be a good fit.

Galaxy227 -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (12/20/2021 5:05:56 PM)

Google says 80 days until the 10th of March, not 93.

You are absolutely right. I thought it was released on 22nd March for some reason.
Wohoo! Two weeks earlier than I thought! :)

Wierdly I have the same issue. I keep thinking 22nd.

62 days, 9 hours, 9 minutes, 9 seconds to go....

Mightymaster -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (1/25/2022 3:14:00 PM)

Steaming is allowed for the next 2 weeks. But only 2 factions, as the others are not yet ready.

Mightymaster -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (1/28/2022 9:43:13 AM)

the hardest part is to resist the urge to view all streams. I dont want to get spoiled to much [:'(]

Gertjan -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (1/28/2022 3:24:42 PM)

The streams do not really spoil too much at this moment. I don't see much of the story line yet. And of course much resembles to DWU, but with a lot of quality of life improvements and much nicer graphics.

I am not watching the streams. It isn't that I think they would spoil things, more that I am trying to compensate for not getting into the beta by gathering all my excitement to the big release.
Not long now... :)

There are no major story lines to reveal in this build. At least in the races we're allowed to play. We get to sample the 2 racial stories for the Ackdarian and Mortalen which is not revealing much of the overall main story arc.

Testmann -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (2/1/2022 10:54:44 PM)

Can't wait to play this game!!!

This is what I learned thus far from the Streams:
The Ackdarians find their old homeworld, which also unlocks the racial fighters (or other racial tech) and the "Way of the Ancients" Government form.

The Mortalans in some way or another will find a planet killer.
However, be assured that the Streamer version is not the final one of that beast. Nor is the hive.
It is a early testing one.
The final likely will have much longer cooldown. And might not even be able to reliably hit things smaler then a planet with the main gun.
Which should drastically limit the calculated and thus displayed firepower.

bbenham -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (2/5/2022 1:57:38 PM)

I want it now! there. I feel better.

Mightymaster -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (2/5/2022 3:07:27 PM)

Luckily February is a short month [:D]

Webbco -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (2/5/2022 10:32:51 PM)

I'm also looking forward to getting it. My only worry is that it's too similar to DW1 and not enough development in actual game mechanics has taken place. Gooexto be proven wrong.

With all the improvement to all the systems in the game I say that starting where Universe left of is a very strong starting point for further development of this game.

As far as I understand the goal with DW2 was not to create a sequel as much as fixing the problem and limitations they had with Universe. Once the game is out they can start adding and refining the game with new mechanics as we go forward.

I'm quite happy with getting a more refined version of Universe that is such a good game on its own.

It being so similar is the reason to buy it.

DW1 was a good game, held back by a bad UI and Engine. Which was just the result of it being originally a one man project with limited scope and planning.

DW2 tries to fixes those issues, giving it lots of development potential. It is more of a Remake then a Sequel.

The worst issues people mentioned most often thus far are:
- lack of factions. But that is owed to faction creation being much harder. So only a mater of time
- lack of orbiting planets. Which nobody that seems to have actually played it could confirm as a issue

SirHoraceHarkness -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (2/6/2022 8:08:35 PM)

I haven't watched any of the streams because I want to experience it fresh on launch day. The reviews of the stream working release so far are basically saying its an upgraded DWU that works well and is improved on in every area but nothing really new mechanic wise past some refinements of existing stuff. Works for me and there will of course be dlc so we will have another decade of fun to look forward to.

robban73 -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (2/7/2022 9:34:46 AM)

31 days left. Really want to play this game.

Ax -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (2/9/2022 8:49:20 PM)

I watch the streams and then I howl at the moon [:)]

Darkmater -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (2/10/2022 12:04:50 AM)

Pre-order tomorrow, hopefully a cool new trailer to kick things off with it.

Franky007 -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (2/10/2022 12:20:44 AM)

I have watched a lot of streams.
Day 1 purchase for me.

Gertjan -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (2/10/2022 9:06:43 AM)

I am also considering Galciv4 ones it goes to steam if the reviews are good (needs to really improve/change compared to v3). But I suppose that will take a while and in the meantime I can play DW2.

I have played the Beta of GalCiv4... while it is not directly a bad game in and of itself I just can't get into it and enjoy it for some reason. I just are not that interested in turn based games these days. I really like real time pauseable games, they have a better flow of game content.

Turns generally have too many issues for me these days.

Darkmater -> RE: Waiting for DW2 Impatience Thread (2/10/2022 3:35:39 PM)

I maybe mistaken, but I thought preordering launch was today. Feb. 10th.
