MrOrange -> Capital ships repair and supply chain (11/4/2021 7:50:57 PM)

Hello, all,
I just purchased both Warplan games, and therefore I'm a newbie.
Still getting into the game dynamics, and trying to gasp the main concepts, basically.

I am sure I can find my answers somewhere, but I swear that I already read the manuals and searched this forum, finding nothing. Forgive me if I'm asking something trivial, but two issues are bothering me:

1) Capital ships repair in Warplan pacific. I can't manage to get repaired any ship bigger than a DD flotilla or a submarine. At start I tought it was a special feature of the Salomon scenario, but also in the 1941 scenarion I'm having the same trouble.
According to the manual the ships should automatically repair by 20% of its value every turn, if in a supplied port with minimum size of 5. For a 5-strong-carrier, that should mean 1 point every turn. It's not happening to me. I can't even manage to repair my ships in California, and yes... repair is enabled (double checked).

2) I can't get out of North Africa, in Warplan. Logiswtic is a nightmare, and when I reach El-Alamein as the Axis there is no way for my army to move forward. The last depot is in Tobruk, and the supply situation is abysmal. Am I missing something? Is there a way to improve the supply chain by building depots or something? What am I doing wrong?

Thank you, you all, for aswering my silly questions.

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to mention that this is the most captivating game on the Pacific War. I played a lot of them, and the range varied from too complex, to too unrealistic, passing from too boring. This is the exact match between keeping my atention high and not lettin me lose interest. I'm always in the mood of "let's finish another turn".
Money well spent.

#1 All ships need to be in a size 5+ port to be repaired and the port has to generate supply. The cost of larger ships might be too much for what you are slotting for upkeep and repair. If I remember it is 25% of the full cost / 5... So if a BB costs 500 then 1 strength costs 25% of 500 = 125 / 5 stength = 25pps. Also ships are last on the priority list for repairs so if you want a BB repaired set it to priority and no other units.

#2 An HQ can extend the range of the normal supply that goes out there. So if the last hex is say just at El-Alamein then putting an HQ there will extend that range by 3. Also that part of the map is supposed to be very difficult for Rommel to get through. To keep their effectiveness up use supply trucks, naval supply, and air transport supply. A unit can get one of the 3 each turn. Air transports only work when not in a supply network. Supply trucks only work when they ARE in the supply network. Usually the best strategy is to invade Syria.

It is supposed to be difficult for the Axis to break through there vs a prepared UK.

Glad you are liking it. Just drop a review on Steam for me. Good ratings means I sell more games. I sell more games I keep making more games.

Thank you, Alvaro,
I relized what I was doing wrong, and now my Pacific battles are running smooth as velvet. I played the Salomons scenario on both sides, and managed to plaster the enemy with great satisfaction. [8D]
