For anyone interested in Cyberboard.

I had thought CB no longer updated since 2010, but apparently Dale Larsen is working on a new release.

A beta can be downloaded from https://github.com/CyberBoardPBEM/cbwindows/releases/tag/v3.5-prerelease-3

The beta can load vintage gameboxes.

Cheers

What is Cyberboard and how do you use it? can you use it for TOAW games?

Zovs -> RE: cyberboard (11/11/2021 8:32:34 AM)

Larry it’s similar to vassal. It’s used to play board war games.

Larry,

As Zovs said, it allows one to port a physical wargame to electronic format. In Cyberboard, these are called "gameboxes". The gamebox is a computer file that Cyberboard loads, and then one can see the game map, deployment, move the counters, etc.

There wouldn't be much point in moving a TOAW scen to Cyberboard, and it would be a lot of work to write a rulebook that simulated TOAW mechanics. But if you want to play an old paper game classic without it sitting on your table, then Cyberboard is pretty cool. Or if one wanted to develop a new game and play it using the Cyberboard system.

Cheers
