I saw on a screenshot that there are different levels for the Editor. Can we have more details ?

What are the possibilities of the Editor ?

You can basically make scenarios for almost any ww2 battle at the same scale (1km/hex) that uses the same kind of weather and landscapes (or close) as in the ardennes. (no desert landscape fore example). Though it will be easiest to stick to close to the Ardennes as libraries and maps for them are already available as vanilla content.

It seems to be a very powerful Editor!

pz501 -> RE: About the Editor (11/12/2021 12:55:09 AM)

I guess we'll all see what the editor capabilities are in about a week, but I'm wondering if there is a maximum map size, and can the existing campaign map itself be increased in size?

For instance, if I wanted to extend west so that Antwerp is on map, can it be done?

Or, if I wanted to increase the map overall size so that Antwerp is (again) on map at the west edge, and that edge ran in a rough line (north-south) of Antwerp-Brussels-Reims, and the east edge was anchored say on Monchen-Gladbach, and it ran north-south Monchen-Gladbach-Trier-Saarbrucken, could that done?

Edit: I've got a good map source scaled at 1 KM/hex from another simulation and publisher, so the only issue for me would be the ability to increase the overall map size.

There was no way the Germans were ever going to get to Antwerp without some out of this world luck, gas stations every 20km or so, and incredible Allied incompetence but I'd like to have a map area where the U.S. Ninth Army, British 2nd Army, the bulk of the U.S. Third Army, along with German AOK 15, and maybe part of FJ AOK 1 are on map at start.

A powerful editor is always an asset for a strategy game.

Operation Nordwind could be created with this editor ?

Just to clarify, does "same weather and landscapes" include (1) summer weather as well as winter; and (2) would you be able to do Eastern Front, which is often flat and treeless instead of the Ardennes' wooded hills?

I'm generally not a Bulge fan at all, but will probably pick this game up if the editor gets good reviews.

I too can take it or leave it as far as Bulge itself is concerned. I'm also in the same boat as you when it comes to the editor.

I'd like just a little more information about just how powerful and flexible the editor is: What is the maximum map size?, Can existing maps be expanded?, Can weather and terrain effects be changed?, How hard will it be to change unit and/or terrain color schemes? (Regarding color, I do recall that in Advanced Tactics and the Decisive series it was very difficult because of color palette hard-coding). And yes, I've watched most of the YouTube videos about this game, but the editor is scarcely mentioned.

I'm certain I'll play and most likely will enjoy the Ardennes scenarios (based on what I've seen so far anyway), but just a little more information about the editor and what it can or can't do would really be appreciated.

As of right now I'd consider this a 90% day one purchase for me, editor depending.

springel -> RE: About the Editor (11/14/2021 11:58:43 AM)

There is a September scenario in the game, but the weather is just above zero: no warm weather included.

Arthurius -> RE: About the Editor (11/14/2021 8:30:52 PM)

I saw ,,well above zero'':

time: 37:58

But my dream is that next chapter of DC with battalion level will back to Eastern Front. Maybe Operation Bagration with 65-th Soviet Army of 1-st Belarussian Front under Konstantin Rokossowski and Pavel Batov.

OK, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the editor wouldn't allow summer weather...

It is often not easy to have information about the Editor when a game will come out, it must not interest a lot of people...

Thats very true about editor information. But in this case Vic has proven he's very keen to improve the editor, or now editors. Im assuming this editor will be very similar to the one in his "Community Project".

Indeed. Upon release I'll post online documentation for the editors to provide some more info.

best wishes,
vic
