nkln -> [FIXED] Sentinel 2 not loading at all (11/14/2021 7:30:12 PM)

Hello there,

I am a pretty new C:MO player and after some basic tutorials I was searching YouTube for some Scenarios to play along. I stumbled across the Battle of Chumonchin Chan, played by P. Gatcomb and was wondering why his satellite imagery looks way more high-resolution than mine. (See attached Screenshots for comparison). While comparing my game with other YouTube videos afterwards, the problem persisted.

Why is my C:MO not downloading the required files? I have activated Sentinel-2 as well as the BMNG Layer and to me, it looks like the data is actually not being downloaded / being streamed.

I am using a 2070 super, 32 gigs of RAM, 3700x, running the game from an M.2 SSD and my connection speed is 200k down. If you need Log-Files, I am happy to send them to you if you tell me how to find them.

Thanks in advance
Niklas

EDIT: So, disabling the Steam Overlay for C:MO and at the same time disabling MSI Afterburner resolved the problem for me, fortunately. Thank you guys, for all the kind advices and tips!

Just throwing it out there, might you have firewall/av software blocking the traffic from command.exe process? That would be one of a few reasons. One way to kinda check though if things are actually downloading or not to check <installfolder>\ww\cache\S2Cloudless_webp\<numbers>\files... If things are accumulating in the cache as you move around the map and zoom in and out etc with the layer in question enabled, then you know they're at least downloading, if not traffic might be getting blocked (obviously if you have more technical means to trace traffic you could monitor that too while the game is open).

The image on the right is still the BMNG layer, and on the left is Sentinel 2. Try Turning BMNG layer (and all the others) Off. It might take a little bit for the Sentinel 2 to show. If map stays basically black, then you still have an issue.

I think he uses downloaded high resolution maps as a custom layer for the specific area he is "playing" in.

Thanks, that seems to be my issue right now. No Cache files are being accumulated and as boogabooga is saying, when I deselect the BMNG my map turns black. The question is where my problem lays, there are no Firewall restrictions for C:MO and also no visible Registry entries as far as I can see..

Multiple reinstalls did not fix the problem either unfortunately.

That could be.

Hmm.
Do images show up for most units in the database viewer (this too pulls from the internet over time now)? I ask just to see if only the map image downloads are being affected.

At least as far as BMNG goes when installing\reinstalling did you use the full (4.xx gb) installer first (if not using Steam version), if I recall (maybe it's changed since original release) bmngv2 layer files are actually in that one.

Another option is ..and idk know why it might be missing, but check \Config\Command.ini for:
AllowInGameDownloads = True
If it happens to be missing, add it and restart.

In your browser on the same system can you reach (should get a directory listing - just proves nothing along the way is blocking access to the site or your ip for some reason):
http://warfaresims.slitherine.com/MapTiles/S2Cloudless_webp/4/0/
http://warfaresims.slitherine.com/DBImages/
and
http://clients3.google.com/generate_204 (used for checking internet connectivity by the game I think) - long as you don't get an error page (but do get a blank or no page) it's working.

Well, downloaded high resolution could be, yeah. But nevertheless, my sentinel-2 isn't loading at all, unfortunately. I am using the steam version of the game.

No Cache files are being accumulated, but I am able to visit all the links you send me without any problems. AllowInGameDownloads is set to True inside my Command.ini.

In my ExternalURLs.ini there is only one link under RemoteImages. It's the one where you find the Imagery for the Databases.
Is this correct or do i need to add another link for the Sentinel-2 imagery in there?

I reinstalled again, and now images are accumulating inside the Cache folder you talked about earlier. Although all the other problems still persist. When turning off the BMNG-Layer everything goes black and when turning on BMNG and Sentinel-2 only BMNG is being loaded.

Nah don't touch that.

Well that will happen if no other layers are showing. When you switch\change\add\remove layer options, try zooming out a little, then back in, and moving the mouse a little bit such that view changes by decent amount of nm ...idk for me some time I gotta jiggle it a bit and wait ~5 seconds like that for it know to refresh\redraw update layer data. idk, best advice I can give about that.
