MarkShot -> Flying freight to isolated units? (11/16/2021 11:41:21 AM)

So, I got myself isolated. OUCH!!!

I thought I would fly supplies in at the start of the air planning phase. The supplies were recorded by the target air field.

However, I did not notice any special distribution to units; they appear just as under supplied as before.

???

Thanks.

you probably won't be surprised to know its all a bit situational.

One wider bit, a given cluster of isolated hexes need 500 tonnes of freight to limit the ill-effects of isolation. That can be dropped anywhere and go to any of the units but you need to match that total. Both sides have the air transport capacity (in the campaign) to generate this but it takes some understanding of the source depot system and sometimes a turn or two to set up - one of the many reasons to always have a few large pri 4 depots well to the rear (and to cluster your transports here).

Specifically, there are 2 situations

a) there is a unit (combat or HQ) at the airbase where you drop - those units will mostly absorb what has just arrived, the HQ to send on, the unit for its own use. here you can see it, the unit counter will show improvements in its freight (as supply/ammo etc).
b) there isn't - in which case a temporary depot will be generated at the airbase and the freight sent on in the next logistics phase. In this case it gets dispersed and by the time you see the units again may well have been used up, so very hard to track

Here is the situation. I flew into an airbase which already had a depot. The screen shot is towards the end of combat, but they had started isolated, but not from this base.

Thanks.
