Stelteck -> Artillery questions (11/20/2021 9:26:20 AM)

Hi.
I have a question about artillery. In case no return fire is expected (long range artillery), is it better to fire all artillery to the target at once ? Or it is equal (or better) to fire each artillery individually one by one to the target ?

Always a good question of a game model, not sure.

From my point of view it is better to use arty individually. when you have used all barrels at once there is no way to shoot with full AP once again and you used may be more than arty units as necessary to soften or destroy the enemy units. I realized that when I cumulate all destroyed units from one unit and I used 3 arty units independently shooting at one target the result is very close or many time similar when I have used 3 units at once. Of course step by step usage is taking a time but you have a better control and planning as maybe that just it is enough to use 3 arty units instead of may 5 units to soft or destroy the enemy unit. Sometimes I am using the combination of guns (arty units) and mortar detachment (platoons) of infantry or mechanize units in cumulative range attack as organic artillery units of infantry or mechanized units are not so good against very good diged enemy units.

Another arty-question. Can I use arty as support in a ground attack? Or only ranged without ground attack?

Yes, e.g. the 7,5cm leIG 18/37 can come in handy sometimes. How are things in the SI-Forum? Any coverage abut DC:AO?

Klink, Oberst

Hi Klink. Not much talks about the game. Someone should make an AAR. *Looking in your direction* ;)
