In the grand campaign, two KGs from 12SS have the same equipment but one has track movement and the other one has leg movement? How is the movement type determined?[&:]

See manual pp63-64:

- There has to be enough vehicles to carry everything and everybody

- If there are vehicles but not quite enough, there is a linear approach to determine if the unit is motorized or legs only

So maybe two units can have the same equipment and same numbers, but just not enough and one could organize itself anyway while the other could not?

Thank you for your reply. I just saw this also. I am just not sure about inability to organize is true for just one turn or for the whole game.

If it is one turn (or four turns) it is OK. But if it is for the whole game, a significant proportion of trucks will be of no use.

Since many of the German mobile forces does not have enough vehicles, they may degenerate into foot infantry for the whole game.

One possible workaround or 'trick' is, to create 'Replacement units' in the rear that include a certain number of replacement trucks | APC and disband them. It's also possible to add, modify etc the replacement table and add them there. And I agree, it's vital, that the Germans should have ample transport in the mechanized and motorized units in order to have a certain momentum, at least at the beginning.

If necessary you can already make a KG with foot troops + pzschreck and mortars (don't need trucks) soon useful to move on hill or forested hexes !

I agree. Some of the German mobiles have a weight slightly heavier than their carrying ability, resulting in many immobilized mobile forces.

Thank you for your reply.

I perfectly understand the designer's purpose for setting the movement type. Maybe for some similar situations like this, an action points penalty or readiness penalty may better serve the purpose (simulating overloaded vehicles).

HQ often have way more trucks than required to motorize the HQ. You can move the trucks around the units in question to increase motorization.
