Novaliz -> Different Defense Values? (11/24/2021 10:18:54 PM)

1. What is the difference between defense [green recktangle] and for example soft defense?

2. What does the i/38 in front of the defense value mean?

Soft defense is your attack value when on the defense against soft target (infantry, artillery).

The "i" number is for infantry/soft target defense. So a king tiger while basically invincible against other tank with over 600 hp (defense), only has iirc 200 hp against infantry, so while still very high, may be more vulnerable against weapons like bazooka.

I find that whole section confusing-defense, soft attack/soft Defense, hard attack/hard defense. In particular, I don't see how defense fits in with soft defense and hard defense. If soft defense is an attack value whey is it called a defense value instead of an attack value. And how does that fit in with hard attack/hard defense. Very confusing for me.

There is a very helpfull database, hidden in the manuals section called allied/german trooptypes, where you can find the important stats for every weapon used in the game.
But I also struggle with their meaning.
Here are the categories as given in that database:
Name att soft def soft att hard def hard defense hvy flak lt flak indirect direct direct 1st direct 2nd+ target

So what is "defense" when there is alreade soft def and hard def???
What is "direct 1st" and "direct 2nd+" and what does "target" refer to???

I feel that the manual this time isnīt of the quality that I am used to be given by Vic in former games. It is sometimes too much and sometimes too less information.

Can anyone explain that datasheet to me/us?

You need to check the scenario design guide !

Thanks Nikdav. From the guide:

35.Att Soft Pow
Attack power when attacking soft targets like infantry. When attacking a hex.

36.Def Soft Pow
Attack power when attacking soft targets like infantry. When defending a hex.

37.Att Hard Pow
Attack power when attacking hard targets like tanks. When attacking a hex.

38.Def Hard Pow
Attack power when attacking hard targets like tanks. When defending a hex.

39.Defense
Aka hitpoints.

Thanks for answering one of my questions.
Still: what is "target"; what is direct first and second?
I find it irritating to have to search info like that in such a way. This game needs a better manual of the same quality the former games from Vic had.
