I have never played the Soviets but always the Germans.

For Germans I play against Soviet AI 115 vs 90 german (morale of germans 100)

I found that to be a good game. But I am at the moment waiting for a bug to get fix. So happy they found it :)

SO I started a new game as the Soviets. I ran the Germans 1st turn at Ai with 119 vs 90 (morale of soviets 100) and there opening turn was really good. I know the AI is weaker at offense then defense, So I am wondering if this is a good setup to play against. I really want a challenge. I dont have time to play a H2H.

if you feel confident, give the AI 120 (or more).

its not just the linear effects that invokes some new routines. These are described in the Player's Notes in the Manual

You'll see references to 'tactical nukes' in some AARs/posts. This applies for the Summer/Autumn 1941 and again same period in 1942. If the Soviets lose a battle there losses escalate via extra disruptions, that in turn leads to more shatters (& certainly more units that need a serious refit). This (to me) compensates that the AI is not great at pockets, so you get Soviet units removed as if pockets were being developed. Makes the late autumn 1941 downright scary and means the late summer 1942 can be very tricky.

You'll get more out of this than setting Soviet morale<100.

Since it is the first playthrough I would suggest a straight 100/100. Good luck.

ya the manual does recommend 120 for the AI to sustain a offensive.

You have convinced me! I will play the AI at 125 vs 100 for me.

Thank you!
