WW31987Blog -> New Scenario For Testing: Northeast Air Defense 1961 (CMO) (11/30/2021 4:59:27 PM)

Afternoon everyone! A couple years ago I dropped the rough draft version of a scenario titled Northeast Air Defense 1961 on here. It was centered around a Soviet bomber attack on the northeastern US and Canada. The Berlin Crisis of 1961 spiraled out of control and led to a Third World War. Unfortunately, real life responsibilities got in the way for me so I was never able to revise and improve the scenario.

A few weeks ago I dusted it off and have been toying around with it, mostly bringing it up to CMO standards. I'm not finished yet, but hope to have it ready in time for the next scenario pack release.

On a related note, I plan to drop a couple scenarios based on my blog World War III 1987 here before Christmas. I'll be fixing them up in the next couple of weeks.

Mike

Hi WW31987Blog

This is great news.
I played the old scen several times years ago, so I´m looking forward to the new version.
I have two things I think you need to look at though.

All the coastal radar stations only have height finder (HF) radars.
This means that they will be unable to detect any targets unless they are cued by another source.
They need to be paired with a 2D air search radar to work properly.

The right airbase #4 (there are two of them) have a few bombers not assigned to a mission.

Other than this, it looks great.

Hope this helped.

Søren

Thanks for the tips, Soren and I'll work on fixing them this weekend. I actually think I have a set of the radars set up properly on a flash drive somewhere. Will be searching for it soon.

Definitely helped. Thanks!

Mike

Thanks! I'm glad I finally found the time to start posting on here. I did a lot of the air and naval gaming of the conflict with CMANO. I actually have one scenario from the blog in the community now. WWIII Air Campaign Denmark, I believe. Have to go and check again. More will be coming though.

It's been a long time coming. Now that I have some extra time, I want to get some scenarios out

Yeah, those tail guns are a nasty surprise, aren't they? I've lost a fighter or seven to those guys. [:)]
