KnightHawk75 -> Sats only detectable via emissions nothing else? (12/7/2021 6:05:38 PM)

Satellites appear to not be detectable by anything but emissions/esm, they do not appear to detectable by other sensors with space-track capability, including sensors seemingly specifically made for it (telescopes) etc, let alone radars.

In the attached scene there are some ground and see units around some pinned sats (it doesn't matter if pinned or not, they are pinned here to simplify the sample for both location and alt), each unit has a ridiculous number of radar and visual\IR systems attached to them. None will detect the Blue SkySat c13.

At some point in the past this was not the case, globus-I/II sensors for instance picking leo sats overhead use to work, it might have been as far back as cmano, pretty sure certain radars used too as well.

Ignore Blue USA-218, which is in there to highlight separate issue using same scene. Time of day also makes no difference.

@jannas34 - Not sure what value a bunch of comments similar to that one in multiple threads is going to bring. As for this one, it's pretty recently reported, so you might be jumping the gun.
